MONTES DE MALAGA

Guided tour in the mountain.

If like us, you are a nature lover, this is the tour for you! We ride mostly through the Parque Natural de los Montes de Málaga. It is a circular tour that starts and ends at our shop located in the centre of Malaga.

We begin our tour heading north of the city, bordering the Guadalmedina riverbed. We ride past the Rosaleda football stadium and exit the city, passing the Botanical Garden of La Concepción, which can be seen on our left-hand side.

We then begin the route through the Parque Natural de los Montes de Málaga. We ride along the Picapedreros path at the height of the San Telmo Aqueduct, where we begin the ascend enjoying wonderful views of the city while taking in the fauna and flora of the park. We continue on the beautiful pathways to the Hotel Humaina and the recreational area of the Cerrado where we will stop for a snack. We have quick break before facing the final climb to the spectacular viewpoint of Vázquez Sell where we enjoy breathtaking views of the province of Malaga.

We continue along the Camino de Contadoras to the Fuente de la Reina, the highest point of the route. From there, we start the descent to Malaga. We then take a short detour to take in the fantastic views of the Natural Park, and the bay of Malaga from the Mirador del Cochino.

On our way back down we will stop at the Venta, a traditional restaurant on the mountains of Malaga, El Mijeño. This is a very traditional bar and restaurant, where we can have a drink and order some of its typical dishes to recharge our batteries while admiring the majestic views. In addition, Don Francisco, the owner of the restaurant, might show us his traditional cellar of his Pedro Ximénez wine, made from his own vineyards around the restaurant itself.
